Milkipur, Erode East By-Election Results 2025 LIVE Updates: In the closely-contested battle, BJP’s Chandrabhanu Paswan succeeded in Milkipur while DMK’s Chandhirakumar V.C. had emerged victorious with a thumping majority at Erode East. As the results of both constituencies are going to be closely monitored, both victories will make a good political view for the next elections.
Milkipur: BJP Overpowers Samajwadi Party in a High-Profile Battle
Milkipur by-election in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday involved a keen contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Samajwadi Party, with BJP candidate Chandrabhanu Paswan securing an easy win. Paswan polled 1,46,397 votes to defeat SP’s Ajit Prasad by 61,710 votes, as declared by the Election Commission in its final result. It is a Scheduled Castes (SC)-reserved seat, making it an important contest for both parties.
In the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, BJP’s Gorakhnath had lost to Samajwadi Party’s Awadhesh Prasad by a very big margin. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, just recently, Awadhesh Prasad again dealt a blow to the BJP by winning Faizabad (Ayodhya) seat, defeating BJP’s Lallu Singh by more than 54,000 votes. All this notwithstanding, Milkipur has seen the BJP regain its lost position, mirroring the fortunes of the party at large.
The Milkipur bypoll had become the prestige battle both for BJP as well as the SP, given the fact the BJP was going to regain many seats that went out of hand during the just-concluded last elections. Obviously, the hotly contested game was a fallout of the politics gaining momentum and intensifying their strength in that region, keeping in mind particularly the consecration of the Ayodhya temple.
Erode East: DMK candidate Chandhirakumar wins without much contest.
In Tamil Nadu, the Erode East by-election resulted in a decisive victory for the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), as V.C. Chandhirakumar triumphed with a commanding lead of 61,880 votes, after 20 rounds of counting. His closest rival, Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) candidate M.K. Seethalakshmi, secured 48,424 votes, but could not challenge the dominance of DMK in the constituency.
The by-poll in Erode East was sparked by the unfortunate death of Congress MLA EVKS Elangovan. In the February 2023 by-election, Elangovan had won by a massive margin, winning by more than 66,000 votes. This time, however, the political dynamics in the area were altered since the major opposition parties like AIADMK and BJP had both decided to boycott the election. This created the opportunity for small regional players and independent candidates to enter the race.
Chandhirakumar’s win shows the entire grip of DMK over Tamil Nadu as it managed to entrench itself in the region. While Chandhirakumar asserted that he was sure of being elected to power, he said that the electorate was satisfied with the performance of the state government on the day of the vote. He also asserted that it was a “natural election” and not a product of political maneuvering like elsewhere.
Milkipur and Erode East: A Changing Political Landscape
Milkipur and Erode East by-election outcomes could prove consequential for the future of BJP as well as that of regional parties. The winning of BJP in Milkipur over SP speaks of a kind of change which has taken place in political climate, particularly for Uttar Pradesh wherein the party could not come victorious in last years. This further suggests that there is still great power left behind in BJP though it faced significant setbacks earlier.
Here, in contrast, the by-election in Erode East provided an easy path for DMK to solidify its gains without a powerful opposition. In reality, a massive victory sent the right kind of message across by the Erode East electorates and continued the victory streak with this ruling party, but an open field due to independent candidates along with the players from a local level would open up for political diversity to increase in upcoming by-elections or elections within this state.
The trends in these two regions represent wider political movements; hence, by-elections signal the current direction of changing preferences among voters and the maneuvers undertaken by regional-level parties. Ahead of key state elections and national contests, Milkipur and Erode East’s outcome will influence political discourse for many months ahead.
