New Delhi, May 11, 2025 — Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to schedule a special sitting of Parliament for debate on the recent India-Pakistan ceasefire and the Indian armed forces’ reply under Operation Sindoor.
Gandhi, in his letter, challenged the transparency of the government regarding major developments concerning cross-border tensions, asking, “Why has the nation not been taken into confidence on decisions that have serious implications for national security?”
He complimented the Indian Army on its prompt action but maintained that such military action and follow-up diplomatic initiatives should be discussed democratically. “The people of India have the right to know the government‘s strategy going forward, particularly in the face of growing concerns about terrorism and border security,” he wrote.
Gandhi also called for a full briefing by the Prime Minister, threatening that lack of accountability may erode confidence in the government‘s crisis handling.
The government remains to be officially replied to the letter.
